What is Structural Integration [KMI]?

I am currently offering structual body work, 3-session weekly approach that addresses the entire superficial sleeve of the connective tissue including deep core fascia activation. A consecutive weekly or bi-weekly session is required for best results.

Each session will take 75-90 min. at $80 per session or $240 for the 3 series.

WOULD IT BE GOOD FOR ME?

  • Are you fully recovered from an injury/surgery, but have developed a compensating postural pattern that you want to correct?
  • Are you a pro-athlete or rec-athlete during your “off” season and would like to unwind your connective tissue to be able to fully recover from your athletic input?
  • Are you in chronic pain, back, hip, shoulder, forearm, plantar fascia, knee, headaches etc.?
  • Are you in a postural pattern that you would like to correct?
  • Would you like to decompress all or specific joints in your body?

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING TREATMENT

  • The sessions work in a designed sequence from the bottom up, so even if you have shoulder pain, the cause might be in your lower body, since SI works in relationship to gravity we need to work from the feet up.
  • This form of bodywork requires client participation, while on the massage table you will be asked to move certain areas of your body
  • Your practitioner will ”bodyread” (look for imbalances in your structure) before , during and after your treatment to evaluate your body in relation to gravity (the place we live in mostly) so you are up of the table at times, SI will also include some seated work on a bench
  • You will need to wear snug fitting full-coverage underwear or a 2-piece bathing suit, since you will not be covered with sheets and stand up at times
  • In between sessions you might experience soreness in some areas of the body that your practitioner didn’t even work, this is expected as your structure is being realigned, the discomfort should subside within 48 hours

I am certified in the KMI method of SI, developed by Advanced Rolfer, author and anatomist Thomas Myers. The KMI (Kinesis Myofascial Integration) method is an evolved approach to SI that uses sensitive advanced myofascial techniques to remove restrictions in the fascial system and movement re-education to restore function to our structure as a whole. The significance of the fascial and myofascial system is quiet complex providing support and orientation of our bones, nerves, organs and vascular structures as well as acting as a communicator between all of the subsystems of the body. The various parts we call ligaments, tendons and muscles are all forms of fascia (connective tissue) that give us our unique shape and form.

Structural Integration (SI) is the original name for the pioneering work of Dr. Ida P. Rolf, it is a multi-session approach of slow fascial and myofascial manipulation combined with client movement to re-educate the body, breaking postural patterns formed by overuse, habits or post-rehab from injuries. SI focuses attention on the relationships between the parts (bones/joints and all surrounding soft tissue) of your body and their orientation to each other and gravity.

KMI Structural Integration will reorganize your body structure/posture to give you the best your body has to offer
